I’m not an authority on art, but I do have my critiques on the works of Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol. For one thing, I do not find their works of art glorious or inspiring, but I will give credit to Pollock for opening the gateway to contemporary art.
As for Andy Warhol, I think Jasper Johns was far more skilled than Warhol ever was. Plus I think most of his fame came from his character: uptight “know-it-all-ism” and surrounding himself with celebrities 24/7. If someone can give me 2 or 3 good aspects of Warhols works, I’ll consider taking him off my list titled “Artists Who Suck.”
For me, I personally enjoy the works of Robert Rauschenberg (who died last May). Paul Klee is my favorite expressionist/surrealist. Dan Flavin for minimalism. Richard Serra for Sculptural Art… although he might be tied with Auguste Rodin. Other artists which I like include:
I actually have a longer list, but Pollock and Warhol are definitely not on it. Now before people criticize my opinion on the lame works of Pollock and Warhol, I just want to let you know that I not only talk the talk, but I do walk the walk. I know how (to): paint (oil + Acrylic) , draw, etch, sculpt, write calligraphy, block print, darkroom photography, digital photography, graphic design (Basics), web design (Front End) , 2 years of Art History and 6 years of studio art. (I’m only 20).
Okay. Attack me. :D
